Origami bases are often the starting point of models and projects.  The Blintz Base is one of a group of traditional bases that are used in both traditional and more modern origami design.  It gets its name from a type of pancake that is folded in this way.

How to Fold a Blintz Base 

Here are the diagrams to show you how to make a Blintz Base.

1. Start with a piece of square paper, white side upA square of paper, white side up
2. Fold the paper in half, bringing the left edge to the right edge and unfoldFold in half, edge to edge and unfold
3. Fold the paper in half, bringing the bottom edge to the top edge and unfoldFold in half, edge to edge and unfold
4. Fold one of the corners to the centre pointFold one corner to the centre
5. Fold the opposite corner to the centre point.
Note: you fold the opposite corner to the first one as this encourages accurate folding

6. Fold the third corner into the centreFold the third corner to the centre
7. Fold the fourth corner into the centreFold the fourth corner to the centre
